Update from Froedert

Sandy and Matt are dictating this, Amy is typing it in (what a team we are).

Here's what we know:
After talking to Dr. Walker post surgery, he indicated there was a small focus of cancer cells in one of the two sentinel nodes on the left side. The nurse described it as microscopic. As a precaution they removed the first fat pad of lymph nodes (not the entire strand). While he is confident that radiation treatment will not be necessary, we are awaiting the results of the pathology which are due in next week.

It took some time to figure out, but the pain is now under control. Sandy was able to get out of bed and take a long walk down a short hall trailing poles of I.V.'s and various other bags along with her. Other than that, Sandy is doing remarkably well.

That's all for now, we will check in again tomorrow.

Good going team Sandy! It sounds like the doctors have things well under control. We're glad to hear that the correct balance of pain medications has been found. You're doing great.

Love,

Sandy & Matt,

I am so relieved to hear the great news on the surgery and prognosis. You have been in the hearts and minds of so many people, and it looks like prayers have been answered.

I recently read this quote by Maya Angelou: "I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow." Tomorrow is today, and things are already looking better. And tomorrow will be even better.

I’m so impressed with how you have handled this most difficult life experience. You are certainly an inspiration to me. You will continue to be in my daily thoughts and prayers. I look forward to seeing you both out and about again soon.

All my best wishes, Lynda

I'm so happy your surgery is finally over - not as happy as you are I'm sure! Now begins the healing process and the 'getting better!' May God continue to hold your entire family in His hands.
Sending a hug - gently

Sandy and Matt - Everyone says "Hi" and Hang in there! One day at a time -it seemed like it took forever to get to this point and now the surgery is over and recovery just around the corner. Glad to hear they got the medication figured out...pain medication is a wonderful wonderful thing. We will be thinking about you on Easter (as we are getting together today for dinner) and always!
XOXOXO's - Uncle Tom, Aunt Carla, Jess, Evan, Jon and Steph!
